Mini Flower Show Competitions
The London Horticultural Society (LHS) has five mini flower shows per year for members to compete in. The shows were held in the months of April, May, September, October, and November.
The prize at the end of the year is the Calvert Award for the most points accumulated in the mini shows. It is a monetary gift.
What is the Calvert Award?
In June of 1991, the LHS was pleased to receive a gift of $500 from Mrs. Helen Jones. The annual interest is used as an award in memory of Helen’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Calvert. Both Luta and J. F. were long-time active members of the LHS. Their beautiful garden attracted visitors from all across London.
An award is presented annually to the member who accumulates the most points in all flower shows. The first award was presented at the 1993 annual meeting for points accumulated during 1992.
